The Importance of Development

Wisconsin Department of Revenue figures for 2018 show that Madison and Dane County have higher equalized property values than Milwaukee and Milwaukee County, respectively, for the first time in state history, with a county-wide total of $65 billion compared to $64.1 billion. This milestone is indicative of a healthy economy and sustained growth in the area.

That’s because new construction and development projects contribute to Dane County’s prosperity by creating jobs and turning unused land and less productive real estate into meaningful housing, retail and commercial space. Moreover, new development spreads property taxes across a larger base, which reduces the burden on individual residents while generating the funds needed to support social services.
